Prentis Street Apartments, Detroit
DETAILS: As an existing residential house in Midtown Detroit, the project involved the meticulous documentation of an existing historical six-bedroom house located in an affluent historically recognized community. The focus of this endeavor was to capture the authentic essence of the structure while enhancing its interior spaces to align with modern sensibilities.
Our approach centered on preserving the house’s historical character and spatial integrity. With a nod to sustainability, the emphasis was on optimizing the existing layout to maximize space efficiency. While the renovation primarily revolved around documenting existing conditions and addressing essential maintenance tasks, we also undertook selective interior painting and deep cleaning to rejuvenate the interior environment.
Special attention was given to maintaining a balance between the historical significance of the house and the limited scope of interventions. Our goal was to infuse fresh life into the interior while respecting the original charm. The historic context & natural light of the house guided our decisions as we engaged in subtle yet impactful enhancements.
