Topography, let alone its ties to sustainable practices for stormwater management, is an often overlooked item in many contemporary urban developments.  Whereas original settlements were forced to design with natural barriers, today’s structures bypass this step as a necessary achievement by mankind. Expanding off of David A. Wallace’s rudimentary attempts at linking man to nature in NYC, Minds in the Gutter asks what the next layer of this process could achieve, when topography is incorporated.
