The YES! Foundation Charter School is a Two Phase development of existing structures on Detroit’s Near West Side. The re-sizing of classrooms and new expansion allows up to 400 students with limited construction, allowing for occupation within twelve months.

YES! Foundation Charter School (Detroit)
DETAILS: A former DPS school retrofit, to accommodate new elementary and middle school students. Located in Detroit’s cultural district it serves as the link of the charter system, serving grades 6-8 and defining a successful basis for the district. Planning included new courtyard entry, parking feasibility studies, and the incorporation of a new 1,000 seat multi-purpose auditorium, to be shared with a local Play-Actors guild.
Studio Weiss’ role on this project was as an initialized draftsperson, materials & sustainability specialist, along with the coordination of MEP/Civil team for construction documentation. Initialized design by SDG Associate (former Sims Varner).
